Eczema, Psoriasis and Acne
by Kathleen Douglas (BHSc)
Skin is the largest organ in the body, it is not only on the outside of your body but also lines the entire gastro-intestinal system (i.e. from you mouth to your anus).
What you see on the outside may be a message from your body that something within is irritating it, causing inflammation/rash/itching/peeling/redness. In many cases of eczema/acne/psoriasis there is some other gut condition present. Gut conditions common in skin cases include chronic constipation, chronic IBS, chronic diarrhoea, undiagnosed coeliac disease, parasite infection, viruses, bacterial infections.
Nutritional imbalances can also cause skin irritation, zinc is particularly important in skin health, other beneficial nutrients include omega oils (3,6,9,12), evening primrose oil, vitamin A, and strain specific probiotics.
In some cases the item may be a non food item such as metals or other toxins, this can be identified in a Hair Mineral Analysis test, once identified a chelation program can be written and followed.
By identifying and removing the cause of irritation the skin is able to regenerate and heal.
Once the internal cause has been identified symptoms can improve very quickly, in many cases you will see minor improvement in a couple of days, improvement will continue as long as the offending irritants stay out of the system.
